Week of Culture

All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Spanish students are engaging in Hispanic Heritage Week by exploring cultural traditions exclusive to Latinos. Each day we focused on different celebrations. The following was explored this week:

Intermediate I students are continuing learning about "La Quinceañera" and important traditions and rituals surrounding this celebration through various readings, MovieTalks, and speaking activities. See infinite campus for latest assessments.

Novice II Spanish students are investigating "El día de los reyes magos" (Three Kings' Day) and the tradition of "La Siesta" and the roots of this beloved custom. Students engaged in multiple class activities to demonstrate their understanding and make cultural connections. Students also completed a webquest involving many unique celebrations in Spain that have no likeness in the United States.

Link to Three Kings' Day Jeopardy

EL DÍA DE LOS REYES MAGOS/THREE KINGS' DAY JEOPARDY

Please play this Jeopardy game with a buddy and keep track of your points on a scrap piece of paper. You and your partner can decide ahead of time about whether or not you want to use the reading in the game (you could make a rule like, we can only use the reading twice per game).
