Beginning New Units

Intermediate I Spanish students have begun their latest thematic unit with "La Quinceañera." Students are learning about the importance of a girl's 15th birthday party in Hispanic culture and the important roles that both male and female young people play in this celebration. The following assignments were due this week:
* La Quinceañera Webquest http://www.angelfire.com/sd/josue/jeanny/
* La Quinceañera "Cloze" Activity

Novice II Spanish students are still in the midst of a MovieTalk unit and completed the following MovieTalk discussions this week:
* El perro y el hombre (Feast) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4MYnCfDnYw
* Los extraterrestres (Lifted)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4FIm5XOI6M
Students learn different structures in Spanish with each video. Students are asked guiding questions both written and orally. If you are unfamiliar with how MovieTalk helps kids learn Spanish faster, I have provided a link below for more information:

6th graders have been doing a mini-unit focusing of simple Spanish grammar. The following topics were practiced this week through short stories.
* Using "Quiero, quieres, quiere" (I want, you want, he/she wants)
* Me gusta(n), le gusta(n), te gusta(n) (I like, you like, he/she likes)
